For that, the thesis was structured in 3 chapters with the following general objectives: i) Identification of the edaphoclimatic attributes related to the productivity of Pinus taeda; ii) Evaluation of the effects of fertilization and different extractors to characterize P, K, Ca and Mg and the correlation with forest productivity; iii) Evaluation of the nutrient contents in the wood and in the needles of Pinus taeda and their relationship with the soil characteristics and productivity. The study plots were located in forest stands in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina. Fourteen soil profiles were analyzed for morphological and physical-chemical characterization; and classified according to the Brazilian Soil Classification System. For the evaluation of the fertilization effect soil samples were collected in the fertilized and unfertilized treatments at depths 0-10 and 10-20 cm. The following chemical attributes of the soil were determined: P and K (Mehlich I), Al, Ca and Mg (KCl), pH CaCl2, potential acidity (H + Al); P, K, Ca and Mg (1% citric acid extractor); analysis of total elements in the soil (EPA 3052) for P and K, and pseudototals (EPA 3051) for Ca and Mg. N and C were determined by total combustion. In order to characterize the levels of nutrients in plant tissues, samples of wood and green needles were collected. Microwave digestion was carried out to analyze nutrients in the wood; and for the foliar analysis sulfuric and nitroperchloric digestions were performed. Dendrometric data (site index, volume, average annual increment) were obtained through forest inventories carried out annually. The soil attribute that showed the best correlation with productivity was the clay content. The methodologies of routine analysis and extraction by 1% citric acid showed a positive correlation for K, Ca and Mg. There was no significant increase in terms of productivity after the fertilization of the plots. However, residual effects for Ca in the soil were observed at a depth of 0 to 10 cm, for both exchangeable and pseudototal levels. The wood samples showed a significant increase in Ca and Mg contents after liming. Significant positive correlations were found between the contents of K, Ca and Mg in the wood and the contents of these nutrients in the soil, but no correlation was found between the levels of nutrients in plant tissues and the productivity of Pinus taeda.
