A referenciação por formas nominais e a construção do Ethos em textos argumentativos

Abstract

Resumo: Esta pesquisa tem como objeto de estudo os textos argumentativos produzidos por candidatos do vestibular da UFPR, Universidade Federal do Paraná, no ano de 2008. O que se objetiva mostrar nessas produções é a construção do estilo, analisado em sua relação enunciativa, especialmente com o ethos – a imagem de si que o candidato projeta e que o leva a fazer determinadas escolhas lexicais, na elaboração de seu texto, como resposta à prova discursiva. Tendo em vista que o texto analisado pertence a um determinado gênero, concepções teóricas relacionadas ao gênero, aos tipos e às sequências textuais são elucidadas nesta pesquisa. Além disso, a concepção relacionada à referenciação também é visitada, já que a hipótese inicial desse trabalho é de que há uma imbricação entre os referentes – elementos que organizam e estruturam o texto para constituir o gênero – com o estilo do texto, que, nesta pesquisa, se liga à noção retórica de ethos.

Abstract: This research aims at studying argumentative texts written by candidates taking the college entrance examinations for the Federal Universtity of Paraná (UFPR) in 2008. The objective is to show how style is constructed in the texts, analyzed in their enunciative relation, especially with the ethos – the self-image projected by the candidate, leading him or her to make particular lexical choices in his or her writing process, as an answer to the admission essay. Since the analyzed text belongs to a specific genre, theoretical concepts related to the genre, text-types and text sequences are elucidated in this research. In addition, the concept related to referenciation is also dealt with, once this work inicial hypothesis is that there is an imbrication among the referents – the elements which organize and structure the text to constitute the genre – with text style, which in this research is linked with the rhetorical notion of ethos.
