Política de povoamento e a constituição da fronteira oeste do Império Português : a Capitania de Mato Grosso na segunda metade do Século XVIII.

Resumo: Esta tese tem como objetivo estudar como a Coroa portuguesa institucionalizou política de povoamento voltada para a capitania geral de Cuiabá e Mato Grosso, na segunda metade do século XVIII. Trata de perceber, em especial, sobre a constituição da fronteira Oeste do Império português, tendo o distrito do Mato Grosso (vale do Guaporé) como foco principal das atenções do Reino a partir da criação da capitania, em 1748. A edificação das fortificações de Nossa Senhora da Conceição/forte Bragança e do forte Príncipe da Beira foram espacializações lusitanas construídas no vale do Guaporé; cujo propósito era manter o controle político-territorial desta parte da capitania. O povoamento e a militarização do distrito de Mato Grosso foi o principal desafio enfrentado pelas autoridades régias instaladas em Mato Grosso, visando assegurar a todo custo a posse dessa dilatada área, a partir do Tratado de Madri (1750). Formas de sociabilidades foram estabelecidas entre os diferentes grupos étnico-populacionais que passaram a viver nos arredores dessas fortificações, juntamente, com os militares aquartelados intra-muros, constituindo múltiplas percepções sobre esse intrincado universo cultural. Abstract: This thesis has as objective to study as the Portuguese Crown institutionalized politics of settlement toward the captainship general of Mato Grosso, in the second half of century XVIII. It treats to perceive, in special, on the constitution of the border west of the Portuguese Empire, having the district of the Mato Grosso as main focus of the attentions of the Kingdom from the creation of the captainship, in 1748. The construction of the blockhouses of Ours Lady of the Conceição/strong Bragança and the strong Prince of the Side had been constructed from the many spaces lusitanas in the valley of the Guaporé; whose intention was to keep the politician-territorial control of this part of the captainship. The povoamento and the militarization of the district of Mato Grosso were the main challenge faced for the regal authorities installed in Mato Grosso, aiming at to assure the cost all the ownership of this great area, from the Treated one to Madrid (1750). Forms of sociabilities had been established between the different ethnic-population groups that had started to live in the outskirts of these blockhouses, together, with the lodged in barracks military intra-walls, constituting multiple perceptions on this intricate cultural universe.
