Abstract
Abstract: This work aims to make a study of the origin of the major cations and anions in the Verde river - Pr. The rate of weathering of rocks is an important parameter in characterizing geomorphology of the continents, in addition, this type of study can contribute in determining the processes that lead to transformation of a mantle of rock weathering and parent material or parent on the ground, allowing knowledge of the dynamics of change and average erosion in a watershed, and this fundamental knowledge to use studies and land use conscious. The study area, whose length is 165.43 km², is located in the metropolitan region of Curitiba - PR, between latitudes 25 ° 18'S and 25 ° 40'S and longitude 49 ° 21'W and 49 ° 49 'W of Greenwich, covering the municipalities of Araucaria, Balsa Nova, Campo Largo and Campo Magro. The climate, according to Koeppen classification is Cfb type - seasoned with fresh summers, frequent frosts, with no dry season, with average annual maximum temperature equal to 22 °C and minimum of less than 18 °C. The region has four compartments that make up the geological substrate of the basin units Atuba metamorphic complex outcropping in the middle portion of the basin; related metamorphic units Açungui Group, present in the upstream portion of the basin, the sedimentary rock Formação Guabirotuba and Tinguis the west and northwest of the basin and recent alluvium. In these compartments, the predominant silicate minerals, are nevertheless significant differences between the types of silicates of each geological unit and some other minerals that are added to the silicates. These differences in the types of silicates and other minerals are fundamental constraints on the chemical composition of water from the Verde River. Were selected according to local geology, four points for collecting water and sediment, which were sent to analysis. The sampling sites were divided as follows: three points in the Verde River and a point on the river Cambuí (Formação Guabirotuba). The results of water analysis were plotted on Piper diagrams in relative concentrations (meq.L-1) majority of the ions, resulting in mixed waters (calcic-magnesium bicarbonate) for 4 points and the first point is in the boundary between the calcic bicarbonate water and mixed water. The pH of the analyzed points are close to neutrality, with minimal variations ranging 7.30 to 7.81. The total alkalinity occurs with a maximum of 108.17 mg.L-1 and silica ranges from dissolving 10.30 mg / L and 24.70 mg.L-1. The parameter Escherichia coli obtained by bacteriological analysis of water samples indicates the anthropogenic influence on the basin and ranges from 172 to 2966 MPN/100ml MPN/100ml indices Equilibrium Diagrams applied to evaluate the type of alteration geochemistry indicated formation kaolinite, microcline, and limits training kaolinite / microcline.
