Entre ofícios e prendas domésticas : a Escola Profissional Feminina de Curitiba (1917-1974)

Abstract

Resumo: A presente investigação aborda o estudo da Escola Profissional Feminina de Curitiba, instituída na capital do estado do Paraná no ano de 1917 e destinada a atender ao público feminino na prendizagem de artes aplicadas ao trabalho, até o ano de 1974, quando transformações institucionais de ordem significativa, principalmente o fato de incluir à instituição a permissão de meninos ali estudarem e se profissionalizarem, ocorreram. A educação e a escolarização desenvolvidas no período em tela caminhavam em consonância com a divisão dos papéis sociais desempenhados por homens e mulheres, bem como distinções relacionadas à sua circulação nos espaços públicos e privados, o que acarretou em peculiaridades na organização e sistematização do ensino profissional para ambos os sexos. Esta pesquisa, bjetivando especialmente compreender o sentido de profissionalização que se pretendeu nessa instituição feminina de ensino, respalda-se em informações que correntemente circulavam na grande imprensa curitibana acerca da temática proposta, em documentos escolares conservados na própria instituição, relatórios emitidos pelos Secretários e Superintendentes responsáveis pela sistematização dos dados da Instrução Pública do Estado, Mensagens dos Governadores do Estado, relatórios emitidos pela diretoria da Escola e leis que a regulamentaram, como também aquelas que organizaram o ensino profissional no recorte especificado. A operação historiográfica se debruça, portanto, sobre o cruzamento dos documentos apurados, bem como na análise amparada por um estudo bibliográfico no âmbito das questões de gênero e das condições e oportunidades de se profissionalizar oferecidas à mulher nesse período.

Abstract: The present investigation is about the study of the Female Professional School of Curitiba, instituted in the capital of Parana’s state in 1917 and designed to meet women in learning arts for work until 1974, when important intitutional changes occured, especially the fact that the institution allowed boys to study and to profissionalize there. The education and the schooling developed in this period of time meet the division of the roles played by women and men, as well as their diferences related to occupation in public and private spaces, that led to certain details in the organization of the vocational education for both men and women. This research, aiming particularly to understand the meaning of profissionalization for this Female Institute of education, draws upon information that currently circulating in the Curitiba’s press related to this theme, like in school documents kept in the institution, reports issued by the Secretaries and Superintendents responsible for the sistematization of the public education’s data, messages from the State’s governors, reports issued by the school’s principal and laws that regulated them, as well as laws that organized the ocational education. The history, therefore, focus on the documents found and a bibliographic study’s review about gender issues and, conditions and oportunities for women to profissionalized themselves in this time.
