O Apagamento dos ditongos decrescentes orais no sudoeste do Paraná

Abstract

Resumo : O presente trabalho procurará demonstrar, a partir da Teoria da Variação de Labov, que a heterogeneidade decorrente da variação existente na realização do ditongo decrescente oral na fala do Sudoeste do Paraná pode ser sistematizada. Foi estabelecido como objetivo de trabalho a busca de evidências que comprovem o pressuposto de que a supressão da semivogal constitui um fenômeno sistemático que independe de fatores externos. Na investigação dessa hipótese, trabalhou-se com um total de 6902 dados, sendo 3864 referentes a /y/ e 3038, a /w/. Desse total ocorreu a redução em 2338 dados, valor que se revelou bastante significativo. 0 processo de apagamento da semivogal é abordado na diacronia da língua e em relação à sua variação geográfica com o intuito de atingir um melhor entendimento desse fenômeno.

Abstract : The present work tries to demonstrate the possibility to systematize the heterogeneity proceeding from the. variation that exists in the realization of the oral diphtong where the semivowel follows the vowel (e.g. /ow/ and /ey/). The research follows Labov's model for the study of linguistic variation. The analysis is based on the speech of people living in the Southwest of Parana. The objective of this work was to search for evidence which would prove the presupposition that the reduction of the semivowel constitutes a systematic phenomenon which is not dependent on external factors. In the investigation of this hypothesis 6902 data were collected. From this total 3864 referred to /y/ and 3038 to /w/. The reduction occurred in 2338 samples and this number was considered significant. The process of semivowel reduction was investigated in relation to the diachronic development of the language and the geographic variation in order to achieve a better understanding of this phenomenon.
