    Abstract
The objectives of this study was to compare the cutting models proposed by the program MaxiTora ® with cutting models made in the sawmill, check the values of yield given by the program in comparison with the real income and to describe corrections on the values of performance of the program through adjustments on the equations and propose recommendations that result in improvements in the industry and the program. This work was carried out at the company Battistella Ltda. sawmill (Rio Negrinho-SC), located at a Latitude 26 º 39 '35''South and Longitude 49 º 37' 55''West with an average elevation of 968 m. We selected 71 pine logs with diameters ranging from 12.00 cm to 28.39 cm divided into two diameter classes for each of the two main saw lines studied with lengths ranging from 2.10 to 2.22 m. For the line 1 seven cutting models have been proposed and for the line 2 eleven cutting models to the two classes. The layout was composed of a double band saw and a circular saw multiple axis to the line 1 and a circular saw multiple dual-axis to the line 2. The lines of recovery were the same for the two main lines, composed of a horizontal band saw for the first line and a multiple horizontal band saw in the second line. The thickness of the cutting saws that made up the layout, the size of logs and lumber for calculation of volumes and revenues were measured. Taper defects and camber of saw log were also calculated. It was concluded that the cutting models proposed by the program MaxiTora ® showed the best yield and quality of lumber compared to the models run in the industry. It was also noticed that although the program is appropriate for the studied layouts, the sawmill did not perform the models proposed by the program, with five centimeters of diametric class amplitude , the lack of adequate training of the saws operator , the previous study of the models that can be performed in the industry associated with the lack of a leader of logs and the unsuitability of the industry to the program were the main factors that contributed to the non-breeding of the models proposed by the program.
