Abstract : The present work aims to study the educational system proposed by Aristotle and the influence of this system in the formation of the citizen and governmental maintenance of the polis. No text on the theory of Aristotelian education has reached the present day, so to carry out such a project it was necessary to go through several texts of the philosopher, especially Politics and Ethics to Nicomachus. When analyzing the works, we sought to clarify what is the purpose of education for Aristotle and the relationship of this education with the formation of the citizen. The main objective was also to demonstrate the role of education in the formation of the citizen and how it is important for the stability of the polis. The peripatetic educational system was described and it was explained why education, as the educator of the citizen, is the duty of the legislator. To achieve the proposed goals, the work followed the argumentative methods and the technique of bibliographic research. After the analysis of Aristotelian educational thought, it was concluded that he cannot be dismissed as an important philosopher of education. Its educational proposal ends the Greek impasse of the period on private education and public education, returning educational power to the polis, but without excluding the participation of families in the education of children and youth. With a close connection between education and politics, one of the main Aristotelian contributions is the fact that he propose that education should be a concern of the legislator (State) and that it should be unique to all citizens, as it is up to education the teaching of the virtues necessary to achieve eudaimonia, which is the purpose of the citizen and the polis.
