Qualidade de vida, funções executivas e comportamento impulsivo-compulsivo na doença de Parkinson

Abstract

Resumo: O presente estudo aborda as relações entre a qualidade de vida, funções executivas e comportamento impulsivo-compulsivo na Doença de Parkinson, uma vez que elas se apresentam clinicamente através do seu desempenho. A Doença de Parkinson ocorre no mundo todo, em todas as classes econômicas e grupos étnicos. Então, o principal objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a relação entre a qualidade de vida, comportamento impulsivo-compulsivo e funções executivas em pessoas com a Doença de Parkinson. Esta dissertação é estruturada em três artigos, os quais foram elaborados durante o processo de pesquisa. O primeiro artigo é uma revisão sistemática sobre a qualidade de vida e funções executivas na Doença de Parkinson, no qual foi utilizado o checklist Downs & Black para uma avaliação criteriosa da qualidade dos artigos e os resultados evidenciaram uma baixa qualidade metodológica dos estudos científicos na área. O segundo artigo trata-se de um estudo experimental com dados preliminares da coleta de dados da pesquisa, o qual indicou uma associação entre as funções executivas e funções cognitivas de um modo geral. Por fim, o terceiro artigo visou analisar todos os aspectos abordados até o momento, verificando estatisticamente as relações entre a qualidade de vida, funções executivas e comportamento impulsivo-compulsivo na Doença de Parkinson, as quais apresentaram correlações e predições. Portanto, este estudo contribuiu para o conhecimento e o avanço científico referente a DP.

Abstract: Current study addresses the relationship between the quality of life, executive functions and impulsive-compulsive behavior in Parkinson's Disease, once they are diagnosed through the patient's performance. Parkinson's Disease is worldwide, can be found in all social classes and ethnic groups. So, the main goal of this research is to analyze the relationship between quality of life, impulsive-compulsive behavior and executive functions in people with Parkinson's Disease. This dissertation is structured in three articles, which were elaborated during the research process. The first article is a systematic review on the quality of life and executive functions in Parkinson's disease, in which the Downs & Black checklist was used in order to do a careful evaluation of the standard of the articles and the results showed a low methodological quality of scientific studies in the ground. The second article is an experimental study with preliminary data from the research, which indicated an association between executive functions and cognitive functions in general. Finally, the third article aimed to analyze all aspects addressed so far, statistically verifying the relations between quality of life, executive functions and impulsive-compulsive behavior in Parkinson's Disease, which presented correlations and predictions. Therefore, this study contributed to knowledge and scientific advancement regarding PD.
