Estudo comparativo do uso do ballet nas óperas Armide de Jean-Baptiste Lully e Hippolyte et Aricie de Jean-Philippe Rameau

Abstract

Resumo : Esta monografia tem como tema o estudo do ballet na tragédie en musique nas obras dos compositores Jean-Baptiste Lully e Jean-Philippe Rameau. O problema investigado foi sintetizado com a questão: qual a função do ballet nas óperas Armide de Lully e Hippolyte et Aricie de Rameau, considerando-se a estrutura narrativa das obras e as danças utilizadas pelos compositores? O objetivo geral, portanto, é investigar a função do ballet nessas óperas, comparando-as. Os objetivos específicos são: (a) descrever a estrutura das obras em questão e (b) analisar a presença e significado das danças dentro desta estrutura. A metodologia utilizada é a pesquisa documental e bibliográfica, com uso da análise poética das obras e de um estudo comparativo sobre a função da dança nas mesmas. Esta pesquisa corrobora com estudos atuais sobre ópera barroca francesa, trazendo um recorte específico sobre o uso do ballet

This monograph focuses on the study of the ballet in the tragedie en musique in the works of composers Jean-Baptiste Lully and Jean-Philippe Rameau. The problem investigated was synthesized by a question: what is the function of ballet in the opera Armide of Lully and the opera Hippolyte and Aricie of Rameau, considering a narrative structure of works and how dances used by composers? The overall goal, therefore, is to investigate the function of ballet in these operas by comparing them. The specific objectives are: (a) to describe the structure of the works in question and (b) to analyze the presence and meaning of dances in those structures. The methodology used is a documentary and bibliographical research, using the poetic analysis of the works and a comparative study on the functions of dance in them. This research confirms current studies on French Baroque opera, bringing a specific feedback on the use of ballet
