Revisão taxonômica de Alesa Doubleday, 1847 (Lepidoptera : Riodinidae)

Abstract

Resumo: Alesa Doubleday, 1847 está distribuído em toda região Neotropical e inclui 14 espécies, com acentuadas variações fenotípicas. Este estudo teve como objetivo realizar a revisão taxonômica do gênero Alesa, verificando a existência de possíveis novas espécies e validade dos nomes disponíveis e seus sinônimos, com base em novos caracteres diagnósticos servindo de subsídio para um melhor entendimento do gênero. A partir desta revisão, duas novas espécies são descritas: Alesa sp. 1, sp. nov. e Alesa sp. 2, sp. nov.; um status é revalidado: Alesa negra Röber, 1831 stat. rev.; dois novos sinônimos são propostos Alesa fournierae Lathy, 1958 syn. nov., Alesa amethystina Gallard & Fernandez, 2015 syn. nov.; Sete lectótipos são designados: Erycina priolas Godart, [1824], Alesa smaragdifera Westwood, 1851, Mimocastnia rothschildi Seitz, 1913, Eurybia telephae Boisduval, 1936, Alesa hemiurga, Bates, 1868, Alesa lipara Bates, 1868, Alesa thelydrias Bates, 1868; e três neótipos estabelecidos: Papilio amesis Cramer, 1777, Erycina prema Godart, [1824], Mimocastnia egeria Biedermann, 1936. Abstract: Alesa Doubleday, 1847 is distributed throughout the Neotropical region and includes 14 species, with marked phenotypic variations. The objective of this study was to perform the taxonomic revision of the genus Alesa, verifying the existence of possible new species and the validity of the available names and their synonyms, based on new diagnostic characters, as a subsidy for a better understanding of the genus.
