Memorial descritivo do processo de gravação e mixagem do álbum Noturno

Abstract

Resumo: Este trabalho relata e analisa o processo técnico-criativo de gravação e mixagem do álbum Noturno, da banda Castel. Partindo da experiência performática do duo e de sua transição para uma sonoridade orientada à pista de dança, o projeto teve como objetivo documentar e refletir sobre as estratégias de captação, produção e mixagem empregadas, com foco na integração entre instrumentos acústicos e elementos eletrônicos característicos da música eletrônica dançante (EDM). A metodologia consistiu na gravação em home studio, utilizando equipamentos de amplo acesso e processamento totalmente in the box na DAW Ableton Live. A abordagem de mixagem seguiu o conceito top-down, iniciando pelo processamento no mix bus e aplicando técnicas específicas por grupos. A análise detalhada de quatro faixas representativas evidenciou como decisões técnicas foram determinantes para construir a espacialidade, a dinâmica e a corporeidade requeridas pelo gênero. Conclui-se que, mesmo frente às limitações de um home studio, foi possível alcançar o padrão sonoro desejado através do domínio técnico das ferramentas digitais e de uma produção colaborativa. O álbum Noturno se configura, assim, como um estudo de caso da produção independente contemporânea, onde a criatividade e a adaptabilidade permitem a síntese entre a linguagem da EDM e a expressividade de performances acústicas

Abstract: This work reports and analyzes the technical-creative process of recording and mixing the album Noturno, by the band Castel. Drawing from the duo’s performative experience and their transition toward a dance-floor-oriented sound, the project aimed to document and reflect on the recording, production, and mixing strategies employed, with a focus on the integration between acoustic instruments and electronic elements characteristic of EDM. The methodology consisted of home-studio recording, using widely accessible equipment and fully in-the-box processing in the Ableton Live DAW. The mixing approach followed the top-down concept, beginning with processing on the mix bus and applying specific techniques to groups. The detailed analysis of four representative tracks demonstrated how technical decisions were crucial for constructing the spatiality, dynamics, and physicality required by the genre.
