This dissertation investigates the life trajectories of Black individuals in Curitiba during the period spanning the end of slavery and the first decades after abolition. The research is based on historiographical works on slavery and post-abolition, with a focus on biographical narratives, aiming to produce educational material for teachers and students: Black Lives in Curitiba: Histories of Slavery and Freedom. The dissertation explores the teaching of local history, the use of biographies in the classroom, the state of the art on slavery and post-abolition in historiography and education, as well as the approach to this topic in public schools in Paraná. As a result, a pedagogical tool was developed, consisting of biographies of Black men and women who were born enslaved, gained freedom, and created spaces of leadership and struggle for rights in Curitiba. The material brings together the life stories of Vicente Moreira de Freitas, the central figure of the narrative, along with João Baptista Gomes de Sá, Leocádio Júlio de Assunção, Benedito Candido, Candido Ozório, Isidoro Mendes dos Santos, Norberto Garcia, Sebastiana Garcia, Olympia de Assunção Freitas, and Eugenia Alves de Araújo. In addition to the biographies, the material includes educational activities that connect these stories to the local context, providing a resource for teaching slavery and post-abolition through Curitiba’s history. The goal of this material is to highlight Black protagonism and challenge the persistence of narratives in schools that exclusively emphasize the memory of European immigrants and their descendants in the city's history

Ao integrar investigação historiográfica e ação pedagógica, contribui para a ampliação do repertório didático no Ensino de História, para o fortalecimento da formação cidadã dos estudantes e para a democratização do conhecimento histórico escolar; Abstract: This dissertation is situated within the field of Women’s History Teaching and aims to investigate female participation in Brazilian politics, taking os its analytical axis the trajectory of women’s political representation between the 1910s and 2020, as well as to develop and present a didactic proposal for Middle School education. The research is grounded on the observation that women’s presence in school historiographical narratives and textbooks remains limited, often relegated to secondary positions or treated in a marginalized manner, especially with regard to institutional politics, historically constructed as a predominantly male sphere. In this sense, the dissertation problematizes the historical, symbolic, and pedagogical processes that have sustained the silencing and underrepresentation of women in the history taught in schools, articulating historiographical analysis and educational practice. The theoretical framework is based on feminist historiography and gender studies, in dialogue with scholars such as Michelle Perrot, Pierre Bourdieu, Joan Scott, Simone de Beauvoir, Gerda Lerner, and Paulo Freire. These contributions make it possible to understand politics as a field structured by power and gender relations, and to demonstrate that the exclusion of women from school historical narratives does not result from accidental gaps, but from social and epistemological constructions that naturalize hierarchies and inequalities. The research mobilizes concepts such as patriarchy, symbolic violence, representation, and historical consciousness, which are fundamental for the critical analysis of History teaching and for problematizing the ways historical knowledge is selected, organized, and transmitted in the school context. Methodologically, this is a qualitative study of bibliographic and documentary nature, analyzing historiographical productions, legislation, textbooks, and academic studies related to women, politics, and History teaching. The investigation engages with contemporary debates on representation and gender-based political violence, seeking to identify advances, continuities, and gaps in the treatment of female participation in Brazilian politics, especially within basic education. The dissertation presents a didactic proposal for the 9th grade of Middle School, structured around biographical cards of pioneers in Brazilian politics, including elected and non-elected women from different regions, racial backgrounds, social classes, and political trajectories, along with a sticker album. The proposal articulates a critical and playful teaching sequence, aiming to promote historical learning, encourage student protagonism, and foster a plural and problematizing understanding of women’s participation in politics. By integrating historiographical research and pedagogical action, this study contributes to the expansion of didactic resources in History teaching, to the strengthening of students’ civic education, and to the democratization of historical knowledge in the school environment

Jornal Quilombo. Identidade. Mulher negra. Material paradidático.; Abstract: To make the environment school a place designed for reframing and construction of new concepts and knowledge, especially in History teaching, who is still deeply rooted in Eurocentric conceptions, this work was objectived to develop a paradidical material with the purpose of complementing of brazilian History teaching in a transversal conception. This material is available on a virtual platform and is recommended for high school students. Therefore, to foment the expantion of students knowledge about the trajectory of the black population in the first half of the 20th century and also to develop the technical capacity of them to consult historical sources, the newspaper "Quilombo: vida, problemas e aspirações do negro" was used in your ten numbers edited by director Abdias do Nascimento, between 1948 and 1950. This newspaper is a historical source of study, considered a milestone within the second phase of the Brazilian black movement, a division proposed by Petrônio Domingues. Approaching about the condition's life of the black population at that time and publicizing agendas and events about black community, the newspaper portrayed actresses, dancers, singers, painters, educators, maids, girls and candidates in black beauty contests. Carrying out a section on the female intellectual production present in the columns and the iconographic representations of the black woman in the journal, the question arises: how did the performance of the black movement in Brazil until the first half of the 20th century contributed to the process not only of social integration, but also emancipatory of the black Brazilian population, specifically the female? To what extent did the newspaper "Quilombo" contribute to the positive construction of an image and identity of black women? For this, this dissertation was based on bibliographic research and used historical sources. Based on assumptions synthesized by authors who discuss the trajectory of the Brazilian black movement, gender, race and identity, we sought to understand the contexts that led to the need to create the fronts of the black movement in Brazil and a specific press, focused on needs of the black population, highlighting the insertion of the newspaper "Quilombo" in the political and cultural environment of anti-racist mobilization, between the end of the 1940s and the beginning of the 1950s. Likewise, it was verified to what extent the newspaper "Quilombo" made possible the positive construction of the image and identity of the black woman, during the period of publication of the journal. As a result, the research culminated in a material on the Moodle platform, which addresses the identity processes in a period marked by the myth of racial democracy, emphasizing the performance of the movement and black feminism. With this, it is expected to promote the dialogue between students and teachers beyond the classroom; encourage autonomy and critical reflection; and expand the repertoire on the black Brazilian population. Keywords: History teaching. Quilombo newspaper. Identity. Black woman. Paradidactic material.

<link>https://hdl.handle.net/1884/102109</link>
Tais aspectos são indispensáveis à emancipação social, contribuindo para a equidade racial, a valorização da diversidade e o enfrentamento das opressões que estruturam a sociedade brasileira; Abstract: This dissertation aims to analyze the compositions of the Brazilian Rap music group Racionais MC’s from at least a dual perspective: as potential historical sources and as a significant pedagogical resource for the implementation of Ethnic-Racial Education (Educação das Relações Étnico-Raciais – ERER) in History classes. The research is grounded in the assumptions of the New Cultural History, particularly drawing on Roger Chartier’s concepts of representation and cultural practices. In dialogue with the contributions of Paulo Freire and Jörn Rüsen, the song is understood as a polysemic historical document capable of articulating social experiences, collective memories, and critical interpretations of reality. The study contextualizes the trajectory of Racionais MC’s within the Brazilian sociopolitical landscape, with emphasis on the peripheries of São Paulo, examining how their productions denounce racism and state violence while simultaneously affirming Black identities. Methodologically, the dissertation proposes didactic sequences based on the songs Diário de um Detento, Negro Drama, and Mil Faces de um Homem Leal, aiming at the development of students’ historical consciousness and the effective implementation of Laws 10.639/2003, 11.645/2008, and the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). It is argued that the compositions of Racionais MC’s, when articulated and confronted with other historical documents, become powerful tools for a critical and analytical History teaching. Such an approach is fundamental to social emancipation, contributing to racial equity, the valorization of diversity, and the confrontation of structural oppressions that shape Brazilian society
