Abstract: Integrated Crop-Livestock Systems (ICLS) are distinguished by the recognized reduction of the main challenges faced by the agribusiness sector. However, there are still gaps in knowledge regarding all the benefits that ICLS are capable of generating. The objective of this work is to evaluate the influence of the adoption of Integrated Crop-Livestock Systems on the infestation score, number of acaricide applications and average daily gain of heifers in grazing (Chapter 1), the welfare of beef cattle in Integrated Crop-Livestock Systems using measures based on resources and animals based on criteria extracted from the Welfare Quality® protocol (Chapter 2) and the temperament of cattle on grazing (Chapter 3). The experiments of the three chapters of the thesis were carried out at the Canguiri experimental farm of the Federal University of Paraná, in Pinhais-PR, in the long-term experimental protocol of the Center for Technological Innovation in Agriculture (NITA). In chapter 1, the influence of crop and forestry components on the level of tick infestation in cattle was evaluated. It was found that the spatio-temporal rotation with the crop component resulted in less infestation by ticks, since the presence of the crop interrupted the life cycle of ticks in the livestock environment. For chapter 2, welfare assessments were carried out with measures based on resources and on animals, by the research of the influence of the forestry component on the variables. The human-animal relationship was better configured in the livestock-forest system, possibly due to the presence of trees in the environment, favoring the hiding of animals and providing a greater sense of security. In chapter 3, the interference of the inclusion of the forestry component on the temperament of cattle in grazing was tested, which showed a positive effect evidenced by the reduction in the reactivity score of the animals. This effect may be associated with the environmental enrichment promoted by the insertion of trees in the pastoral environment. Thus, it is concluded that the adoption of Integrated Crop-Livestock Systems is an effective instrument for the maintenance of animal welfare of cattle on grazing.
