Abstract: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is known for her lectures and TED Talks in which is highlighted her role as an activist and feminist. However, in several interviews, the Nigerian author says that she prefers to be recognized first as a writer and then as an activist. Even so, there is no lack of examples of academic and non-academic works about her work that guide their analysis in the politically engaged Chimamanda, superimposing a previous reading of the narrative project to which the author proposes to the literary text. In this way, the Adichiean poetics concealed by the thematic triad gender-race-identity ends up invisible. In this context, this work aims to study the formal aspects of representation in the novels Purple Hibiscus, Half of a yellow sun, and Americanah, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and which ideology(ies) are mobilized. Thus, based mainly on Wayne C. Booth's perspective, four categories of analysis were raised from a careful reading of the novels, namely: point of view and distance control; limits and privileges; formal aspects, which unfold in the use of direct, indirect and free indirect speech, commentary and dramatic irony, symbolic elements, objectivity and subjectivity, and temporal organization; and ideological aspects. With this, it was possible to observe that there is an Adichiean literary project under construction concerned with the formation of the reader with regard to the impacts of colonization on the current social structure.
