Abstract: The present study is characterized as a qualitative research with an explorative and descriptive objective, trying to understand the educational elements present in the personal, processual, contextual and temporal aspects which had influence in the educational process, human development and of formation of students/athletes and handball teachers/coaches from Curitiba. In order to achieve this knowledge, it was used the Bioecological Model of human development (PPCT- Process-Person- Context- Time). The sample was consisted by five teachers/coaches and ten students/athletes of handball modality from Curitiba, State of Parana, being five belonging from the female category and the other five from the male one. It was used the semi-structured interview which has been drawn up based in a previous script consisting of central questions about the human development and the handball practice in Curitiba. The analysis of data was based on the Content Analysis (Bardin, 2016) and ATLAS.ti software version 9, in which were created 13 rearranged groups derived from the category's similarities (person, process, context and time). The main results have shown that, in the bioecological perspective of human development, education, development and formation of students/athletes and handball teachers/coaches of Curitiba were progressive and gradual, and occurred simultaneously, in where the contexts and the handball environment, therefore precarious, did not interfere in the practice of this sport and the personal attributes (disposition, resources and demand) were vital to the difficulties confrontation. It is concluded that handball within the municipality of Curitiba is predominantly school, therefore, it needs to be strengthened, and non-formal contexts, such as clubs and associations, can be encouraged in this educational purpose, so that the permanence of the handball modality is not sustained only by the generative dispositions motivated by love and passion.
