| pt_BR |
dc.description.abstract | Abstract: Our work aims to present the problem of evil, understood as non-being, and what this theory implied to the concept of freedom in the work De Libero Arbitrio de Saint Augustine. We take the references of Manichaeism and Neoplatonism to present the notions that the philosopher rejected and assimilated in this dialogue, and we point out his synthesis of God as the Well Supreme, intelligible truth and exclusive object of human preference. Regarding the free will, we show that it is ontologically good, but it is weakened by the fall, whose sequel has reduced the power to accomplish your good choices. With this, we make the distinction that the faculty of wanting the good is irremovable and corresponds to free will, while doing the good you wish, concerns freedom. For Saint Augustine, complete freedom consists of spontaneous submission to the Truth, identified as the Supreme Being, the objective reality where the rational soul finds its secure happiness. | pt_BR |
