O jogo do poder : a tranposição da trilogia literária House of Cards para as séries televisivas

Abstract

Resumo: A presente pesquisa busca, principalmente, examinar a forma como o "jogo do poder" é apresentado nas obras que fazem parte do corpus deste estudo. São elas: 1) o conjunto de três romances - Trilogia House of Cards - escritos pelo britânico Michael Dobbs; 2) a produção The House of Cards Trilogy da rede de televisão britânica BBC e a série House of Cards produzida e exibida pelo canal de streaming Netflix; 3) as três peças de William Shakespeare: Otelo, o Mouro de Veneza, Macbeth e Ricardo III. Tanto as obras shakespearianas quanto os romances e as séries pertencentes ao universo House of Cards abordam questões ligadas ao exercício do poder, que traduzem a realidade do contexto contemporâneo. House of Cards - romances e séries - retrata a perversidade envolvendo as diversas esferas do sistema político e as estratégias de homens e mulheres em busca de poder e na dramaturgia shakespeariana, os personagens são, igualmente, atraídos pelo poder e dominados por ele. Além disso, como nosso estudo envolve obras literárias e audiovisuais - narrativas ficcionais televisivas - procuramos analisar a forma como a ficção televisiva se faz presente no contexto atual e dialoga com a literatura. Assim, considerando a relação dialógica entre diferentes textos, a interação entre textos de mídias diferentes, a transposição de uma mídia a outra, apoiamo-nos em três conceitos teóricos importantes para compreender a relação entre as obras estudadas: intertextualidade, intermidialidade e adaptação. Abstract: The present research seeks to examine the way the "power game" is presented in the works that are part of the corpus of this study. They are: 1) the set of three novels - House of Cards Trilogy - written by the British Michael Dobbs; 2) the BBC television series The House of Cards Trilogy and the House of Cards series produced by the Netflix streaming channel; 3) William Shakespeare's three plays: Othello, the Moor of Venice, Macbeth and Richard III. Both Shakespearean works and the novels and series belonging to the House of Cards universe deal with issues involving the exercise of power and reflecting the reality of contemporary society. House of Cards - novels and series - portrays the perversity involving the various spheres of the political system and the strategies of men and women seeking power. In Shakespearean dramaturgy, characters are attracted to and dominated by power. Furthermore, as this study involves literary and audiovisual works - fictional television narratives - we seek to analyze the way television fiction is present in the current context and dialogues with literature. Thus, considering the dialogue between different texts, the interaction between texts from different media, the transposition from one media to another, we rely on three important theoretical concepts to understand the relationship between the works studied: intertextuality, intermidiality and adaptation Keywords: House of Cards.
