A motivação e o ensino da História

Abstract

Resumo: A tese pretendeu verificar a existência de motivação no ensino de Historia nos colégios de 2° grau, em Curitiba, 1983. Para isso, iniciou o estudo pela estruturação de um embasamento a respeito de diversas teorias sobre motivação, a partir de duas linhas: a Mecanicista e a Cognitivista, optando-se, ao seu final, pela segunda das abordagens como direcionadora da pesquisa de campo. Essa desenvolveu-se pelo reaproveitamento de dados colhidos na pesquisa "Currículo e Historia", realizada em Curitiba, 1983. Uma nova analise dos dados desse trabalho atestou ausência de motivação na organização do ensino em geral e nas atitudes dos docentes, estando, porém, presente nas dos alunos. Essa constatação gerou necessidade, de nova hipótese, e consequente pesquisa de campo com aplicação de instrumento especificamente construído, que detectou como causas da desmotivação dos professores problemas de ordem financeira, de prestígio social da disciplina e de sua formação pedagógica. As sugestões finais do estudo voltaram-se para a necessidade de conscientização das instituições e dos docentes para os impasses criados pela ausência da motivação no ensino de História, a fim de que se promova melhorias nesse campo.

Abstract: This study was made to evaluate the degree of motivation in the teaching of History in Secondary Schools of Curitiba, in 1983. To this effect, the study was started by the structuring of a basis on the various theories on motivation derived from two lines of thought: the Mechanicist and the Cognitivist, with the eventual option for the latter to guide the field work. Data collected during the research: "Currículo e História", carried out in 1983 in Curitiba, were used for this field work. A new analysis of these data revealed lack of motivation both in the general organization of teaching and in the attitudes of teachers, as opposed to the favourable attitude shown by students. These findings provoked the appearance of a new hypothesis with the resulting field work employing a specifically prepared instrument, which revealed the causes of teachers' lack of motivation low salaries, and poor social status of the discipline and of their own pedagogical training. The final suggestions offered by the study stress the need of awareness in the part of institutions and teachers, of the problems arisen from the lack of motivation in- the teaching of History, so that improvements in this field may be achieved
