Razão, moral e liberdade em Thomas Hobbes

Abstract

Resumo: A razão é o instrumento fundamental na instituição de uma moral para Thomas Hobbes, a partir dos cálculos racionais determinasse leis morais, leis que, se efetivadas no Estado civil, conduzirão os cidadãos a uma condição de paz e liberdade civil que não são possíveis na condição de natureza. Através da investigação da ciência da natureza humana hobbesiana, este trabalho procura determinar, num contexto de relação entre indivíduos, os elementos que nos permitam afirmar que a filosofia moral de Hobbes é o fundamento da instituição do Estado político. Discutindo o papel da razão na definição das leis naturais que, apreendidas da natureza seriam o princípio da instituição da ciência moral e intenção das leis civis, este trabalho afirmará que a obrigação nasce na condição de natureza sendo o fundamento da relação civil de proteção e obediência, o que permite postular uma moralidade anterior à instituição civil que, efetivada no Estado, toma-o uma instância que comporta a moralidade, e que a relação dos cidadãos com as leis civis não poderá ser pensada meramente como uma relação formal e exterior. Nesta instância, dado que os pactos formulados pelos homens se devem exclusivamente à vontade dos mesmos, segundo Hobbes, as leis civis são tomadas como efeito da vontade dos indivíduos. Neste sentido, podem ser encontrados elementos que são coerentes com o conceito de liberdade positiva no Estado Civil hobbesiano. Por se tratar de uma ciência, a moral, segundo Hobbes, pode ser aprendida, senão pelo próprio esforço, por uma intervenção externa. Assim, resta um papel importante para o soberano, o de educar os cidadãos naquilo que se refere aos direitos da soberania. Palavras-chave: Razão, ciência, moral, liberdade.

Abstract: The Reason is the basic tool on the moral institution for Thomas Hobbes. From the rational computation instructs about moral laws, laws that, if accomplished on the State, and conduct the citizenry to a condition of peace and civil liberty that aren't possible in a condition of nature. Trough the inquiry of the hobbesian science of human nature, we will try to determinate, in a context of human relation, the elements that allow us to affirm that the hobbes's moral philosophy it's the basis of the politic State institution. Discussing the part of the Reason on the definition of the natural laws that, learned from the nature would be the principal of the moral institution and intention of the civil laws, we will affirm that the obligation bom from the condition of nature being the basis of the civil relation of protection and obedience, what allow to postulate a morality former to the civil institution that. Effected by the State, turns into a instance that contains the morality - and the relation of the citizenry with the civil laws won't be thinked just as a formal and external relation. In this instance, provided that the pacts formulated by men are exclusively from their own will, according to Hobbes, the civil laws are taken as effect of the individual's will. In this way, it can be founded elements that are coherent whit the concept of positive liberty in the hobbesian Civil State. From the fact of being a science, Morals, according to Hobbes, can be learned, if not by a own effort, by external intervention. So, rests an important paper for the sovereign: educate the citizenry into what refer to the rights of the sovereignty.
