A construção de identidades nas comunidades negras de São Roque e Rio do Meio (Ivaí, 1988-2018)

Abstract

Resumo: Esta tese problematiza o processo de construção de memórias e identidades nas comunidades negras de São Roque e Rio do Meio, localizadas na área rural do município de Ivaí/PR. Para tanto, utiliza-se da metodologia da história oral e da análise de um conjunto de outras fontes, principalmente a documentação produzida pelo poder público. Inicialmente, discute as políticas voltadas à população negra no Brasil, com destaque às relacionadas ao processo de reconhecimento das comunidades remanescentes de quilombo. Com a promulgação da Constituição Federal de 1988, o estado passou a reconhecer as comunidades quilombolas como detentoras de direitos, inaugurando um novo momento na trajetória desses grupos. Dada a relevância da publicação do texto constitucional para os quilombolas, essa pesquisa concentra suas atenções para o período entre 1988 e 2018, ano em que foram produzidas as últimas entrevistas utilizadas nesse trabalho. Tal recorte temporal, entretanto, não desobriga uma análise de situações pretéritas, fundamentais para o entendimento das relações vivenciadas pelos moradores. Sendo assim, trata do processo de ocupação da região, pensando tanto a presença dos negros como de seus interlocutores, a saber, indígenas e imigrantes europeus. Atentando-se para as narrativas dos moradores, discute as rupturas e as permanências que caracterizaram as relações destes com a terra e com o trabalho. Avalia a percepção e a ação dos moradores frente aos problemas fundiários que envolvem as comunidades, na medida que entende essas experiências como constitutivas dos grupos e dos sujeitos. Dentre os muitos espaços de produção de identidades, volta-se àqueles relacionados à religião. Seja as tradicionais festas organizadas pela igreja católica ou atuais cultos evangélicos, o campo da religiosidade assume um papel de destaque na organização dos grupos. Por fim, analisa as maneiras como os moradores de São Roque e Rio do Meio lidam com o passado a partir dos problemas enfrentados no presente, dentre eles a construção de uma identidade quilombola. Abstract: This thesis problematizes the process of building memories and identities in the black communities of São Roque and Rio do Meio, located in the rural area of the municipality of Ivaí / PR. To do so, it uses oral history methodology and analysis of a set of other sources, mainly the documentation produced by the public power. Initially, it discusses policies aimed at the black population in Brazil, with emphasis on those related to the process of recognition of remaining quilombo communities. With the promulgation of the Federal Constitution of 1988, the state began to recognize the quilombola communities as rights holders, inaugurating a new moment in the trajectory of these groups. Given the relevance of the publication of the constitutional text for quilombolas, this research concentrates its attention for the period between 1988 and 2018, the year in which the last interviews were produced. Such a temporal cut, however, does not relieve an analysis of past situations, fundamental for the understanding of the relations experienced by the residents. Thus, it deals with the process of occupation of the region, thinking both the presence of the blacks and their interlocutors, namely, indigenous and European immigrants. Focusing on the narratives of the residents, he discusses the ruptures and permanences that characterized their relations with the land and with work. It evaluates the perception and the action of the residents in face of the land problems that surround the communities, in the measure that it understands these experiences as constitutive of the groups and the subjects. Among the many spaces of production of identities, one turns to those related to religion. Be it the traditional festivities organized by the Catholic Church or current evangelical cults, the field of religiosity plays a prominent role in the organization of groups. Finally, it analyzes the ways in which the inhabitants of São Roque and Rio do Meio deal with the past from the problems faced in the present, among them the construction of a quilombola identity.
