Abstract: This research aims at learning of young students from a job with films in history classes. The line of investigations of History Education in which this thesis is a part, has as a principle the concept that it is possible to distinguish a specific historical learning research ideas mobilized by the subjects, especially in the context of schooling. This study differs from others who address the issue of teaching history from the cinematography, especially for his investigative and not prescriptive, and insert new concepts to reference the discussion on the relationship between film and history learning among these stand out: historical situated cognition (SCHMIDT & BARCA, 2009), historical literacy (LEE , 2006) and historical consciousness (RÜSEN, 2012). The option for young people as research subjects is based on the questioning of the relationship between school culture and youth culture (SYNDERS, 1981; DUBET & MARTUCELLI, 1998; HOBSBAWM, 1995). Reflections on film language (MOSCARIELO, 1985) and on the film as producers and distributors of historical knowledge (FERRO, 1992; NOVOA, 2008; ROSENSTONE, 1997), from the concept of historical culture (RÜSEN, 1994), underlie the selection of films for the final study. And the choice of Nazism as a historical concept discussed in this work comes from the notion of relevance in historical culture and its significance for young students. The methodological approach of the research began with exploratory studies in which it was found that young people takes movies as forms of access to objective knowledge of the past. So we chose to problematize the concepts of intentionality, objectivity and multiperspectivity (RÜSEN, 2001; VON BORRIES, 2001), and analyze how the approach of Nazism from different films mobilize these categories of historical knowledge in cognition of young students. The implementation of the final study was performed based on the methodology of focus group, developed with a group of young high school students in public schools who watched three cinematographic work ("Triumph of the Will", "Downfall" and "The Pianist") and debated the historical ideas mobilized in the activity. Finally, the thesis analyzes the forms of learning observed in this work and tries to highlight the potential and limitations of working with movies in history teaching.
