Abstract: This work aims to verify the effectiveness of the union between collaborative learning and Focus on Form (hereinafter FonF), in this case, in the case of learning Spanish by Brazilians. The motivation for this study arose from the difficulty often found by Brazilian students seeking to learn Spanish. It is observed by other studies cited throughout the paper, this difficulty appears most commonly in the later stages of learning. This is due perhaps to the proximity between the two languages involved, maternal and foreign (henceforth LM and LE respectively). Such proximity tends to cause Brazilian students the false impression that learning this foreign language is easier and does not require much effort. Another motivator for such difficulty progression in students may also lie in the fact to understand the communicative approach (hereafter AC) as a methodology that is based mainly on understanding the meaning, no matter much the production quality of the student. The result of this impasse is that, often, the student produces a mixture of Portuguese and Spanish and is believed to be speaking Spanish. How languages are very close, it may seem that any attempt to talk can lead to the correct production of the target language. It is proposed as a way to avoid this happening, greater care with the form at the time of learning the language. However, this care does not mean the study of grammar in the traditional way only, using the already known structural exercises to fill gaps or translation exercises. It is intended that students seize the grammar in order to understand it as essential for the formation of meaning in the target language in order to avoid misunderstandings and a smattering of LE. The aim is, therefore, a study of the way in order to ally meaning: as students seek to build a sense of want to express in LE, they are able to select, test, and reflect on the effectiveness of the ways they are using. Throughout the work, we tried to see how this process can be developed through collaborative learning, which provides a more autonomous by the student, which is positioned in a more active during the entire process. Through the activities of this type of learning, the student is led to reflect on ways to use while assisting your colleague or be helped by it. It happens this way, na exchange of information that leads to the growth of all students involved in that study group, either a double or a group with more students. We seek to meet our objective of verifying the effectiveness of some exercises based on collaborative learning and performed between two pairs of students from a language center of a federal university. We observed how the search for meaning construction led the students to reflect on how they were using, so that the grammar was studied by them so alive as it was driven by the production of meaning. Likewise, it could be seen as an aid to other paid and how the exchange of knowledge served as a foundation for the advancement of both.pt_BR
