Leituras matutinas : modernidade, utopias e heterotopias na Imprensa Joinvilense(1951-1980)

Abstract

Resumo: O objetivo desse trabalho é acompanhar a modernização urbana de Joinville, principalmente as mudanças provocadas nas sensibilidades e sociabilidades dos joinvilenses, sob a perspectiva de uma história dos marginais. Partimos do seguinte problema: é uma utopia, a de construir uma cidade moderna e progressista, mas também moral e espacialmente "higienizada", que sustenta, justifica e legitima a "modernização". O revés desta utopia não tarda a aparecer, o aumento das "margens", sejam elas geográficas ou simbólicas, que desestabilizam, de dentro, as aspirações utópicas das elites locais. Inspirados tanto em Benjamin, quanto em Foucault, procuramos "1er a história a contrapelo" para tornar visíveis suas dispersões e descontinuidades. Utilizamos como fonte privilegiada a imprensa, buscando analisar, em seus discursos, as representações da modernidade e o seu avesso - o aumento nos índices de violência, por exemplo. Outras fontes utilizadas, especialmente aquelas oriundas do poder público, permitiram estudar as tentativas das autoridades de restabelecer, guardar e manter a ordem urbana, respondendo as insistentes reivindicações da imprensa. Ao longo desse percurso, foi possível olhar a cidade como um espaço polifónico, cenário de tensões e de lutas, de contradições e conflitos. De histórias plurais. Abstract: The aim of this work is to accompany the urban modernization of Joinville, and especially the changes to the sensibilities and sociability of the people of the city, under the perspective of a history of the outsider. We begin with the following question: it is a utopia to build a modern, progressive city, but also spatially "hygienic", supporting, justifying and legitimizing this "modernization". It is not long before a setback of this utopia appears: the augmentation of the "margins", be them geographical or symbolical, which destabilize, from within, the Utopian aspirations of the local elite. Drawing from both Benjamin and Foucault, we seek to "read history against the grain", in order to render its dispersions and continuities visible.. We utilized the printed press as our primary source, seeking to analyze, through its discourses, the representations of modernity and its opposite - the growing crime rates, for instance. The other sources consulted, especially those emanating from the public administrations, allowed us to study the attempts, by administration officials, to restore, uphold and maintain an orderly city, as an answer to the insistent claims made by the press. Throughout our path, we have been able to look at the city as a polyphonic space, home to tensions and struggles, contradictions and conflicts, to plural histories and stories.
