Poesia e política nas canções de Bob Dylan e Chico Buarque

Abstract

Resumo: Este estudo comparativo pretende examinar a ideologia e contra-ideoiogia dos textos poéticos de Bob Dylan e Chico Buarque, na literatura de protesto surgida entre a década de 1960 até 1975. A presente dissertação estrutura-se em dois capítulos: I Bob Dylan e II Chico Buarque, subdivididos em três partes,respectivamente . Na Introdução, são estabelecidos os objetivos e a metodologia utilizada na tese. A seguir, apresentamos estudos distintos sobre a história da música popular norte-americana, da origem da balada ã canção de protesto; e da origem do samba ã criação de um ritmo genuinamente brasileiro, a Bossa Nova e sua variante, a Bossa Nova participativa, tentando evidenciar, em ambos os contextos, a canção como veículo-manifesto das reivindicações sociais. Estabelecemos, então, as influências políticoliterárias da contracultura em Bob Dylan e o contexto histórico pré e pós-64, vivenciado por Chico Buarque. Em seguida, analisamos o conteúdo ideológico e contra-ideológico das canções de Bob Dylan, enquanto poeta engajado na "folk music revival" ea temática das canções de resistencia e de conteúdo órfico de Chico Buarque. Ao concluirmos este trabalho, procuramos demonstrar que, apesar das dissemelhanças culturais e políticas, estes autores se coadunam ideologicamente, na temática de protesto e nas formas composicionais de suas canções.

Abstract: This comparative study intends to examine the ideology and counter-ideology of Bob Dylan's and Chico Buarque's songs in the literature of protest of the 60's and 70's. Our study consists of two chapters: (I) Bob Dylan and (II) Chico Buarque, subdivided in three different parts. In the Introduction, we establish the aims and the methodology used in the thesis. After that, we present distinct studies on the history of the American popular music from the ballad to the protest-song; and from the origin of the "samba" to the creation of a genuine Brazilian rhythm - the "Bossa Nova" and its variation, the "Bossa Nova participativa" trying to emphasize, in both contexts, the song as a manifestation vehicle for social change. In addition, we establish the political and literary influences of the counterculture in Bob Dylan and the political context before and after '64, experienced by Chico Buarque. Next, we analyse the ideological and counter-ideological context in Bob Dylan's songs, as an "engagé" poet in the folk music revival; and the thematic of the protest songs and the Orpheus appeal in Chico Buarque's songs. In the conclusion we try to demonstrate that in spite of the cultural and political differences, these authors have a similar ideology in their thematic of protest and in the compositional forms of their songs.
