A motivação de bacharelandos em violão : uma perspectiva da teoria da autodeterminação

Abstract

Resumo: A presente pesquisa traz como tema a motivação para o estudo de um instrumento musical (violão), tendo como objetivo geral a análise da motivação de bacharelandos em violão sob uma perspectiva da Teoria da Autodeterminação. Esta abordagem da motivação humana passou a ser investigada a partir do final da década de 1970 e teve a obra de Deci e Ryan de 1985 como um marco importante no seu delineamento. Como teoria recente, vem sendo revista e reelaborada a partir dos dados empíricos obtidos em pesquisa com esta orientação. Sua característica principal é o postulado de três necessidades psicológicas inatas – competência, autonomia e vínculo social – que, quando satisfeitas, produzem elevada motivação e saúde mental, mas, quando impedidas ou frustradas conduzem a uma diminuição da otivação e do bem estar (RYAN; DECI, 2000a). Com este referencial teórico, a pesquisa se desenvolveu com a utilização de um questionário entregue a 24 alunos do Curso Superior em Instrumento (Violão) de uma Instituição de Ensino Superior na cidade de Curitiba. Os resultados revelaram que os bacharelandos participantes da pesquisa possuem um perfil de motivação autodeterminada, sendo que as variáveis referentes à motivação autônoma apresentaram as maiores médias do conjunto de variáveis, bem como um índice de 70% de autonomia relativa. Este alto índice de motivação demonstrou que os problemas advindos na escolha da carreira de músico profissional não são suficientes para desmotivar os estudantes. O estudo também foi útil para comprovar a veracidade da teoria-método, através de um nível aceitável de confiabilidade da escala (Alfa de Cronbach igual a 0,83) e da Análise das Componentes Principais.

Abstract: The current research brings like a subject the motivation for the study of a musical instrument (guitar), having like a general objective the analysis of motivation of bachelors in guitar under a perspective from Self-Determination Theory. This approach of human motivation took across being investigated from the end of 1970's decade and had the reference work of Deci and Ryan from 1985 like an important boundary in its delineation. Like a recent theory, comes being review and reworked from the empirical data obtained in research with this orientation. Its main characteristic is the postulate of three innate sychological necessities – competence, autonomy and social bond - that, when satisfied, produce high motivation and mental health, but that, when impeded or frustrated lead to decreasing of motivation and well-being (RYAN; DECI, 2000a). With this theoretical reference, the research developed with the utilization of a questionnaire handed to 24 students from the Higher Course in Instrument (Guitar) from a Higher Education Institution in Curitiba. The results showed that the bachelors participants from the research have a profile , the self-determined motivation, being that the variables related to autonomous motivation showed the highest average of all variables, as well as, and level of 70% relative autonomy. This high level of motivation showed that the problems resulted in the choice of music professionally career are not sufficient to discourage the students. The study also was useful to prove the truth of theory-method, through an acceptable level of scale reliability (Cronbach's Alpha equal to 0,83) and from the Analysis of Main Components.
