Preferências musicais de alunos de 5ª a 8ª série da Rede Municipal de Ensino de Curitiba :

Abstract

Resumo: Este trabalho é resultado de uma investigação realizada no segundo trimestre do ano de 2006 com alunos de 5.a a 8.a série de duas escolas públicas da Rede Municipal de Ensino de Curitiba. Teve por objetivo identificar as preferências musicais desses alunos, bem como analisar a atribuição de significados implícitos na relação da apreciação. Norteou a pesquisa a idéia de que os significados atribuídos pelo adolescente dessas séries na apreciação da música popular não se limita apenas ao caráter determinista da indústria cultural. Trabalhou-se com a hipótese inicial de que os significados atribuídos às suas preferências musicais encontravam-se também na especificidade do som e sua construção artística. Para a coleta de dados foi utilizado um questionário semi-estruturado, aplicado aos 225 alunos que compuseram a amostra. Os dados obtidos mediante a aplicação do questionário, caracterizando a metodologia survey, foram também analisados sob o prisma qualitativo, utilizando-se para tal a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Para trazer luz às questões, a pesquisa pautou-se na perspectiva do aluno e teve como fundamentos cinco temas centrais: (a) a música popular; (b) escola; (c) educação musical; (d) a adolescência e (e) o significado da música. Ao final do trabalho, considera-se que tanto elementos intrínsecos à música como elementos externos à estrutura musical se constituem em motivações na atribuição de valor para a escuta musical. Entre esses destacam-se as funções de expressão emocional e prazer estético. Os dados evidenciam a necessidade de ação, por parte da escola, que considere as motivações e necessidades dos alunos para a realização tanto da função de expressão emocional quanto do prazer estético por meio do conhecimento escolar.

Abstract: This work is a result of a survey made with students from the 5th to the 8th grade of two public schools of the Municipal Teaching Network of Curitiba between April and June of 2006. The goal was to identify the musical preferences of students as well as analyze the attribution of implicit meanings in the appreciation relation. The idea that the meanings in the appreciation of popular music attributed by the teenager in these grades are not restricted only to the determinist character of the cultural factory has guided the research.The initial hypothesis was that the meanings attributed to their musical preferences were also found in the specificity of sound and its artistic construction. For the data collection, it was used a semistructured questionnaire applied with the 225 students who formed the research. The data obtained through the application of the questionnaire, characterizing the survey methodology, was also analyzed under the qualitative prism, for that, the technique of content analysis was used. In order to put evidence into the questions, the research was based in the perspective of the student and has as main points five central subjects: (a) popular music; (b) school; (c) musical education; (d) adolescence and (e) the meaning of music. At the end of the work it is considered that elements intrinsic in music as well as outer elements of the musical structure constitute themselves in motivation in the attribution of value for the musical listening. Among these the functions of the emotional expression and aesthetic pleasure are clearly present. The data highlights the need of action by the school which considers the motivations and needs of the students for the achievement in the emotional expression as well as the aesthetic pleasure through school knowledge.
