Premissas de criação de imagens em relevo em objetos de aprendizagem para cegos

Abstract

Resumo: A acessibilidade de imagens apresentadas em objetos de aprendizagem para pessoas com deficiência visual se dá com auxílio de tecnologias assistivas como a audiodescrição e texto alternativo, porém até que ponto as imagens podem ser descritas mantendo sua estrutura e facilitando a aquisição da informação? Diante disso, a presente dissertação tem o objetivo de identificar as características gráficas que uma imagem tátil deve possuir para ser acessível às pessoas cegas. O estudo parte de uma revisão bibliográfica para verificar o estado da arte, identificando o que já foi e está sendo estudado associando às diretrizes de acessibilidade para imagens táteis (digitais e impressas). A partir disso, foi formulado um quadro analítico para ser aplicado no estudo de imagens táteis de um repositório de imagens em relevo para objetos de aprendizagem, identificando a tendência dessas representações. Em seguida, foi realizado o estudo da aplicabilidade/validação do quadro analítico proposto, com desenvolvedores de objetos de aprendizagem e/ou ilustradores, e educadores de pessoas cegas, a fim de verificar se as imagens táteis disponíveis em bancos de imagens apresentam a sintaxe gráfica adequada para ser perceptível às pessoas cegas. Com os resultados aprimorou- se o quadro analítico. Conclui-se que foi possível a identificação da sintaxe gráfica de imagens táteis a partir da literatura adotada e apresentada no quadro analítico proposto. Por fim apontou-se a necessidade de futuras pesquisas para validação do quadro no desenvolvimento de imagens táteis. Palavras chave: Sintaxe gráfica. Acessibilidade. Imagem tátil. Cegos.

Abstract: The accessibility of images presented in learning objects for people with visual impairment occurs with the aid of assistive technologies such as audio description and alternative text, but how far images could be described keeping its structure and facilitating the acquisition of information? Thus, this thesis aims to identify the graphic features that a tactile image must have to be accessible to blind people. The study starts with a literature review, to check the state of the art, identifying what has been and is being studied associated with the existing accessibility guidelines to digital and tactile images, from which was proposed a graphical analysis instrument to be applied on the analytical study. The aim of the analytical study was to review tactile images from a repository of learning objects, identifying its trend. After this study, a research with developers and educators was carried out with the purpose to verify if the tendency of the graphic features found in the analytical study is perceptible to blind people from experts' point of view. With the results, the analytical framework was improved. It was concluded that it was possible to identify the graphical syntax of tactile pictures from the literature adopted and presented in the analytical framework . Finally we pointed up the need of future studies to validate the framework to develop tactile images. Keywords: Graphical syntax. Accessibility. Tactile image. Blind.
