Abstract: The increase in agricultural productivity in Brazil and around the world has been accompanied by a huge explosion in the consumption of pesticides, with a clear emphasis on glyphosate, which is one of the best-selling active ingredients in the world. After application, glyphosate comes into contact with the soil, being subjected to dynamics that are influenced not only by its physical-chemical characteristics but mainly by the soil's own characteristics. Aiming to contribute to the understanding of the transport of glyphosate (N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine) and its main metabolite (AMPA, aminomethylphosphonic acid) in the soil, particularly the mobility mediated by colloids, the present research work evaluated the sorption of these species in soils containing a high content of clay and characteristic mineral fractions, including iron oxides, kaolinite, and gibbsite. The study of the dynamics of glyphosate and AMPA sorption on inorganic fractions composed of iron oxides (ferrihydrite, goethite, and hematite) indicated kinetically favored processes, involving intraparticle diffusion and chemical and physical interactions, the latter influenced by the positive surface charge that these oxides present at the evaluated pH values (4.00 and 6.50). For kaolinite and gibbsite, adsorption also occurred mainly through intraparticle diffusion, with the interaction between the charges of the mineral and the compounds being crucial for the assortative process. The study of the sorption and desorption dynamics of glyphosate in real soil samples (Red Oxisol - LV and Cambisol - CS), at different pH values, demonstrated that at pH 4.00 there appears to be a predominance of physical sorption processes, mainly for LV, while at pH 6.50 the two soils show clear intervention of chemical and physical interactions. It was possible to observe that the presence of MO strongly influences the assortative process in the CS, with the effect being observed with less intensity in the LV. The study of glyphosate transport in soil samples not impacted by agriculture, simulating water events after application of the herbicide in 20 cm columns of deformed soil, indicated that this compound can be leached under the experimental conditions evaluated, which supports the hypothesis of transport facilitated by colloids. When there is a soil pH correction procedure, this leaching is intensified towards CS.
