Abstract: The aim is to investigate two important moments in Walter Benjamin's philosophy based on his notion of technical reproducibility. At first, the philosopher's historical conception is briefly presented in relation to his essay The work of art at the time of its technical reproducibility, as well as the discussions about its reception, since four versions of this work are available, in the respective years 1935, 1936 (the 2nd version and the French version) and 1939. This work will serve as support for the construction of the dissertation, since it clearly brings the notions of politics and art, both exemplified in the concepts of traditional artwork and reproducible artwork. Such concepts embody some of the objectives of this work: understanding how Benjamin understands the relationship between politics and art through concepts that differ both in the technical capacity of creating a work of art and in the way society perceives it; and how the philosopher understands reproducible art as being able to promote social emancipation through practices that, at times, are faced with the power of the bourgeoisie and capitalism. This will be possible from the clarification of the notions of technique of creation and reception of traditional works of art, as well as the notion of aura, its potency of meaning in relation to the traditional work of art and its consequent decay. Next, it will be observed how the reception of the reproducible work of art is offered and its power to awaken class consciousness. In view of this, texts by Benjamin are sought, such as art and technical reproducibility (1936), On the concept of history (1940), among others, and by various interpreters, such as Leandro Konder, Jeanne Marie Gagnebin, Miriam Hansen, Susan Buck-Morss, among others, information that makes it possible to understand the notion of politics and art and its capacity for social emancipation.
