Todas as
Abstract: The papillomavirus infection is responsible for a wide variety of proliferative lesions in many animals including humans. This infection has a close association with the neoplasias of the inferior genital tract. There is a lack of information about the mode of transmission principally between mother and fetus. Then our purpose was to study 28 cervix uteri of fetuses and still-born analysing through in situ hibridisation, polimerase chain reaction and histology the presence or not of the papillomavirus nucleic acid and viral cytophatic effect. These cervix were obtained from archival material, where 13 mothers had clinical lesions or latent infections, while 15 women did not present any clinical lesion or latent one. All patients were analysed by polimerase chain reaction and Pap smears. We conclude that is impossible the transmission during pregnancy of the HPV Infection to the cervix uteri of the fetus.
