Reforma social e educação no pensamento de Rocha Pombo (1879-1917)

Abstract

Resumo: A presente pesquisa almeja, por meio da análise da trajetória intelectual de José Francisco da Rocha Pombo (Morretes,1857 - Rio de Janeiro, 1933), investigar as ideias de reforma social presente no pensamento de Rocha Pombo, particularmente a forma como este ímpeto reformista se relaciona com proposições e ações no campo educacional. Considerando-se enquanto um reformador, apresentou em diversos momentos contradições e ambiguidades em suas propostas. Entre as ações identificadas na trajetória pública de Rocha Pombo que se associam ao problema desta pesquisa, destacamos: a militância no jornalismo; a participação política no parlamento e, em especial, o projeto de criação de universidade no Paraná; a escrita de romance de formação; e a produção de livros didáticos. Considerando este problema e suas manifestações no contexto social, esta investigação terá como fonte os escritos legislativos, jornalísticos, literários e históricos de Rocha Pombo, entre os anos de 1879 e 1917. Será examinado como sua escrita imprimiu a partir de diversos estilos - jornalístico, literário, histórico e político - o discurso reformista. A pesquisa versará sobre a trajetória de Rocha Pombo buscando diferenciar-se quanto à escolha de fontes e a partir de análises distintas sobre documentos comuns na produção do intelectual. Para a efetivação da pesquisa foi necessária a consulta em alguns acervos presentes na Biblioteca do Museu Paranaense, no Arquivo Público do Estado do Paraná e na Seção Paranaense da Biblioteca Pública do Paraná, bem como arquivos digitalizados da Biblioteca Nacional por meio da Hemeroteca Digital e o acervo de teses da Universidade Federal do Paraná. Abstract: The present research longs to, by the means of analysis of the intellectual trajectory, of José Francisco da Rocha Pombo (Morretes, 1857 - Rio de Janeiro, 1933), investigate the ideas of the social reform in the thoughts of Rocha Pombo, aimed most on the reformist impetus relates to the propositions and actions in the educational field. Considering himself as a reformist, he presented numerous moments of contradictions and ambiguity in his proposals. Among the actions identified in the public path of Rocha Pombo that are associated to the main problem of this research, it will be detach: the activism in the journalism; his political participation in the parliament and, in special, his project of creation of the Paraná University; the writing of the romance of formation; and the productions of didactic books. Considering this problem and his manifestations in the social context, this investigation will have as source legislative writings, - journalists, literary and historical writings of Rocha Pombo, between the years of 1879 and 1917. It will be examined how his writing printed from various styles - journalistic, literary, historical and political - the reformist speech. The research will be about the trajectory of Rocha Pombo aiming to choose to diverge as the choice of the sources by distinctive analysis about documents in the production of the intellectual. For the effectuation of the research there were necessary to consult some collection of the Paranaense Library Museum, the Public file of the State of Paraná in the Paranaense section in the Public Library of Paraná, as well as the digitalized file from the Federal University of Paraná.
