Ademais, contraria a ordem esperada do ciclo vital. The loss of a loved one resonates with powerful effects on the life of the one suffering the loss, as it usually gets shocked and helpless, causing the survivor's life to turn empty and uninteresting. The death of a child to a mother is considered the worst loss of human existence, once it destabilizes the intense and natural bonding between mother and child, besides, the end of the descendant's life is considered apart from the normative standards, since it contradicts the expected order of the life cycle. Currently many young people are murdered as a result of high levels of violence in the social context, which brings out the maternal mourning. Based on that, this study aimed to understand the suffering of the mother underlying the loss of a son by murder. It was taken as an initial hypothesis that the hatred for killers of their children from mothers, associated with mourning suffer, can hinder the process of loss acceptance, with a higher risk of developing a pathological mourning. Based on that, it was taken as the research problem: Does hate associate with mourning, hindering the development of mourning on mothers who lost their sons by murder? The study consisted of a qualitative study, based on psychoanalysis, built through clinical sessions and open and semi-structured interviews with six mothers who lost their children by murder. Data analysis enabled the psychoanalytic understanding of cases on psychological treatment and interviews. The analysis of interviews resulted in systematic meanings in the categories The Desired Child; Specificity of Maternal Mourning; Mourning from Murder; Hatred; and The Need to Achieve Justice. From this on, it was observed that there are specific aspects on mourning from murder according to the history of life and to the mental condition of each mother. In addition, it was found that the hostile affection does not necessarily hinder the mourning development of mothers who lost their son by murder, consequently these mothers may follow two different mourning destinations: the possible developmental mourning or the melancholia, this one as a kind of pathological mourning.
