O pombo urbano : paisagens do outro

Abstract

Resumo: A presente pesquisa tem como proposta investigar as relações que se estabelecem entre pombos urbanos e seres humanos na paisagem urbana, entendida como forma simbólica geradora de representações espaciais. Para conduzir esta investigação, são empregados conceitos da Geografia Cultural, abordando o pombo urbano como elemento constituinte da paisagem urbana e das suas representações. Diferentes produtos culturais em que relações entre seres humanos e pombos urbanos se fazem presentes são tomados como representações da paisagem urbana, tendo como ponto de partida o projeto artístico Ornitologia urbana, de Ana Paula Bellenzier, realizado em Curitiba, Brasil, entre 2008 e 2010, e em Bogotá, Colômbia, em 2012. O pombo, animal "natural" inserido no ambiente artificial das cidades, traz à tona relações complexas e contraditórias entre homens e animais, oferecendo uma nova perspectiva sobre os conceitos dicotômicos de Natureza e Cultura, tradicionalmente entendidos como mutuamente excludentes. Nas representações do pombo revela-se ainda a especial relação deste animal com idosos, moradores de rua e crianças, que compartilham com a ave a condição de alteridade com relação ao humano adulto, produtivo e supostamente racional, constituindo assim verdadeiras "paisagens do outro".

Abstract: The following research proposes to investigate the relationships established between urban pigeons and human beings in the urban landscape, understood as a symbolic form which generates spatial representations. In order to guide this investigation, concepts from Cultural Geography are used, approaching the urban pigeon as a constitutive element of the urban landscape and its representations. Various cultural products, in which the relationships between humans beings and urban pigeons are highlighted, are taken as representations of the urban landscape, starting from the art project Urban Ornithology by Ana Bellenzier, executed in Curitiba, Brazil, from 2008 to 2010, and in Bogota, Colombia in 2012. The pigeon, which is a "natural" animal inserted into the artificial environment of cities, brings to light complex and contradictory relationships between men and animals, providing a new perspective over the dichotomic concepts of Nature and Culture, traditionally inderstood as mutually excludent. Representations of pigeons also show the special relationship between this animal and elderly people, children and homeless people, who share with this bird the condition of alterity in contrast to the adult, productive and supposably rational human being, constituting effective "landscapes of the other".
