Escolha estrategica : o papel do dirigente e as forças ambientais e estruturais : estudo comparativo de casos

Resumo: Este estudo teve como objetivo principal caracterizar o processo e a escolha estratégica de três empresas do ramo alimentício da região metropolitana de Curitiba. O método que caracteriza esta pesquisa é o estudo comparativo de casos. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas com 8 dirigentes, assim distribuídos: TODESCHINI (3), NUTRIMENTAL (3) e LEÃO JÚNIOR (2). As entrevistas versaram sobre as principais estratégias organizacionais de marketing e de finanças e sobre as forças internas e externas que influenciaram a adoção dessas estratégias. De maneira específica, o que se buscava era classificar o processo e as estratégias como voluntaristas ou deterministas. A análise dos dados foi efetuada de forma descritivo-qualitativa. Utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo como procedimento para o tratamento de todos os dados coletados. Os resultados encontrados demonstram que (1) na TODESCHINI o processo estratégico tende ao voluntarismo, na NUTRIMENTAL e na LEÃO JÚNIOR este processo é equilibrado, nem voluntarista nem determinista, embora na primeira este equilíbrio seja mais tênue; (2) voluntarismo e determinismo são variáveis independentes; (3) de forma geral, as estratégias de marketing e de finanças de todas as organizações foram mais influenciadas pelas forças deterministas; (4) as duas organizações que procuram equilibrar o voluntarismo de seus dirigentes e as forças deterministas, apresentam melhor resultado operacional. Abstract: The study had as its main goal, to characterize the strategic process and the strategic choice of three different companies in the food industry, all of which located in Curitiba's metropolitan area. Our research method is the comparative case study. The data was obtained through semi-structured interviews with 8 CEOs, divided as follows: 3 from TODESCHINI, 3 from NUTRIMENTAL and 2 from LEÃO JÚNIOR. The interviews dealt with their main financial and marketing organizational strategies, and the internal and external forces that influenced those choices. More specifically, the objective was to classify the strategic process and strategies as deterministic or voluntaristic. The analysis of data was done in a descriptive-qualitative manner, and content analysis was used as procedure for all the collected data. The results demonstrate that The results demonstrate that (1) at TODESCHINI, the strategic process tends towards voluntarism, and at NUTRIMENTAL and LEÃO JUNIOR, it is a more balanced process, even if at NUTRIMENTAL, this balance is somewhat more delicate; (2) voluntarism and determinism are independent variables; (3) as a whole, the marketing and financial strategies of all three companies were influenced by deterministic forces; (4) the two corporations that seek equilibrium between the voluntarism of its CEOs and the deterministic forces present a better operational result.
