A literatura de Valêncio Xavier encontra o outro : os espaços do estrangeiro e o trânsito entre as linguagens

Abstract

Resumo: A dissertação tem como objeto de análise a obra literária de Valêncio Xavier, sua produção publicada em livro, de uma forma geral, com relações e investigações de parte da obra como um todo, e de forma específica de O minotauro, obra que costura a narrativa dos quatro capítulos. A categoria que está presente em todos os capítulos, porque constitui o foco principal da pesquisa, é a categoria de estrangeiro. Ela é percebida de diferentes formas e se define sempre na relação, em cada situação específica. Assim, o espaço físico (hotel) e a personagem da prostituta são estrangeiros em relação ao narrador; o narrador é estrangeiro em relação a ele mesmo e ao leitor; e há, ainda, a manifestação do estrangeiro na linguagem, no sentido de habitar a fronteira entre as linguagens visuais (que são diversas) e verbal/literária. Outra categoria presente na dissertação é a de espaço, aliada à de estrangeiro mas independente. É ela que pontua a amplidão que a concepção de espaço permite. Por um lado, sua abstração, sendo que as quatro formas de espaço analisadas na pesquisa e que estruturam os quatro capítulos são: o espaço da narrativa, o espaço do outro, o espaço subjetivo e o espaço de linguagem. E, por outro, em seu sentido mais estrito, diz respeito ao espaço físico, o espaço do hotel em O minotauro e O mistério da prostituta japonesa. Os quatro capítulos se desenvolvem, então, da seguinte maneira: o primeiro, com uma fundamentação teórica que orienta os conceitos de pós-modernismo e neobarroco, e que segue propondo hipótese de análise da narrativa de Valêncio Xavier; o segundo analisa o espaço do outro - o espaço físico e a personagem da prostituta; o terceiro, o espaço subjetivo - a análise do narrador em O minotauro (1986) e O mistério da prostituta japonesa (1986); e o quarto analisa o espaço da linguagem e as relações entre as linguagens visuais e verbal pela perspectiva da montagem e da colagem, bem como análise dos usos de imagens nas obras (cinema, fotografia, desenho, gravura e publicidade) e, por fim, da imagem na obra O minotauro.

Abstract: The thesis is to analyze the literary work of Valêncio Xavier, published in book production, more generally, with relations and research work as part of a whole, and specifically of O minotauro, a work that weaves the four chapters. The category also present in every chapter, because it constitutes the main focus as research is the category of foreigner. The foreigner is perceived in different ways and it always sets the relationship in each particular situation. Thus, the physical space (hotel) and the character of the prostitute are foreigner in relation to the narrator; the narrator is a foreigner in relation of yourself and the reader; also the space of language as a foreigner in the sense of inhabiting the border between the visual languages (which are several) and verbal / literary. Another category which, allied to a foreigner, is present in the dissertation is space. The category relates to space alien, but it is independent, it is that punctuates the vastness of space that the design allows. For a side, the abstraction, that the four forms of space research and analyzed in organizing and structures the four chapters: the narrative space, the space of another, a subjective space and the space of language. For other side, in strict sense, say respect to the physical space, the hotel in O minotauro and O mistério da prostituta japonesa. Finally, then, the four chapters are developed as follows: first, with a theoretical framework that guides the concepts of postmodernism and neo-baroque, and following analysis of the proposed hypothesis narrative Valêncio Xavier, the second addresses space the other - the physical space and the character of the prostitute, the third space - subjective analysis of the narrator in O minotauro (1986) and O mistério da prostituta japonesa (1986), and the fourth analyzes the space of language and the relations between verbal and visual languages by the prospect of assembling and gluing, as well as analysis of the uses of images in the works (cinema, photography, drawings, prints and advertising) and, finally, the image on the book O minotauro.
