Abstract: This qualitative study-case research investigates the way the school interferes in the gender subjectivity development of pre-school children age 5 and 6. It interpretes the gender subtext present in the messages produced by the children in their everyday school practice. It intends to identify the gender logics underlying school practices by making use of the habitus concept in order to explain the way the children incorporate these logics. The empirical data were collected through observations, video recording, interviews and documental analyzis. In order to analyze the content, there have been constructed, as categories, the binary logic, the deconstructivist logic, and the dimentions of the school experience represented by the proxemics structure, by the routines, by the way knowledge is presented in the academic books utilized and by the transmission of gender concepts by the teachers. The process of analyzis and interpretation of the findings were organized by crossing these categories. The intention was to get to know the details, clues and signs through the reading of the verbal and non-verbal elements that direct the way in which the subjectivity of the children have been constructed. As a conclusion, there seems to be a tension between the logics, with a tendency to the binary logic. If, on one hand, the school reproduces the binary gender logic, which is hegemonic in our society, on the other, it can take part in the process of transformation of this logic. It can be done by a conscient and intentional interference with a deconstructivist logic, also present in the children shool experience.
