Abstract: Aiming at evaluating the sewage alkaline sludge (pH 11.6) complementary to the mineral fertilization, a trial was made in pots, using the 0 - 20 cm layer of a dystrophic Reddish Latosol, medium texture and 6.2 pH (CaCI2 0.01 M). The study encompassed the wheat culture. The experimental outlining was the factorial 4 x 4, in which a combination was made between 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of mineral fertilization officially recommended for the culture and 0; 2.5; 5.0; 7.5 and 10.0 Mg ha-¹ doses of sludge from the sewage alkaline sludge, on a dry basis. The sludge was made homogeneous with the soil of each pot, 20 days before the wheat seeding, the fertilizer being applied on the same day of the seeding. In each pot 3 plants were kept and morphologically evaluated and after their having been cut, dry matter production and tecidual nourishing contents in the whole plant were determined. The effects of the sludge on the soil were evaluated after 20 and 100 days from its mixture. The data underwent a regression analysis and revealed that, on day 20 from the mixture there was an increase in pH of the soil, which surpassed neutrality of the 7.5 and 10.0 Mg ha-¹ doses. The saturation by bases (V%), CTC and P, K, Ca, Cu and Zn contents had also increased, whereas Mn and H+AI had their contents reduced. There were no changes in Mg, C and Fe contents. On the day 100 evaluation, only the average values from the sludge treatments, without fertilizers, were considered, the resulting data were compared to those after 20 days. It was found that the sludge residual effect was not significant taking into account the majority of the evaluated parameters. As regards the morphological evaluation of the wheat plants, the sludge had a pernicious effect on their height, stem diameter and leafy area. Dry matter amount was equally reduced due to the sludge application. On the contrary, there was a positive effect from the fertilizer on all the morphological parameters, due to its role of restoration of the damaging effects from the sludge. The evaluation of the tecidual nourishing contents of the wheat plants has demonstrated that the mixture of the fertilizer lead to a reduction in K, N and Cu contents. On the contrary, due to the sewage sludge mixture, the wheat plants had their K, N, Cu, Mn, Mg and Zn contents increased. The vegetal tissue did not experience any change in its P, Ca and Fe contents. These results depict that some elements underwent dilution effect (from the fertilizer) or concentration effect (from the sludge), whereas other ones were not affected by the change in the dry matter production resulting from treatments performed. Mn was the only element to have a content reduction in the vegetal tissue, as the sludge dose increased. It was also the only element to show a leafy content below the proper one determined for the wheat.pt_BR
