Abstract: The concept of Culture Industry, originally developed during the 40‘s decade of the twentieth century by Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer, has been the subject of both Media and Philosophy research aiming at its revaluation. This work proposes, without trying to offer a definitive answer to ensuring the concept‘s relevance or obsolescence, to establish some principles and criteria to critically consider the concept of Culture Industry in the present. For this purpose, this master's dissertation is divided into three parts, the first two being dedicated to the analysis of the original ideas proposed by Adorno and Horkheimer and the latter one being dedicated to the analysis of the concept in the present, by exploring three main dimensions: ideological, aesthetic and technique. The bibliographic reference that subsidizes this chapter‘s development is interdisciplinary in nature and seeks to establish a dialogue between Philosophy and Social Communication. In its conclusion, this master's dissertation presents some principles that reinforce the idea that there are good arguments for both defensing and criticizing the actuality of the concept of Culture Industry, leaving open the possibility of closing the debate with a definitive answer.
