This study had as its main sources various manuscript books kept at Câmara Municipal de Curitiba (Curitiba’s Chamber), which basically contained registers of licenses and guarantees conceded to the merchant men who worked at Vila de Curitiba from 1765 to 1785. Other sources were used in this worked, like the "Livros de Correição e Audiência dos Almotacés de Curitiba", "Livros de Atas de Eleições da Câmara Municipal de Curitiba", and the genealogical reconstituitions produced by Francisco Negrão and Ermelino de Leão.
