Abstract: The synthesis and photophysical properties of a pi-conjugated polymer containing 2,2’-bipyridyl groups alternated with 2,5-dihexyloxyphenylene units: poly[2,2’bipyridyl-5,5’-diyl-(2,5-dihexyloxy-1,4-phenyl] (LaPPS 26) are discussed in terms of the conditions used, like different solvents and concentrations, the oxygen presence in the solutions, besides of change of the excitation intensity power in the fluorescence analyses by using a laser source. The experimental results have suggested that the fluorescence emission from LaPPS 26 can be tuned by proper selection of the experimental conditions showing two fluorescence emission peaks: 445 nm (blue region) and 550 nm (green region). A combination of parameters was used to find the best conditions for the observation of each emission separately. The results fitted very well with the theory of twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT). The observed effects were interpreted in terms of the stabilization of the state excited in specific surroundings and suitable energy conditions. To our best knowledge, this is the first experimental report showing the formation of TICT in real time, by varying excitation intensity power.
