Abstract: The letters changed between Pliny, the Youth and Trajan reveal diverse situations of the private and public life of the end of the century I and beginning of the century II AD. Since connected requests the citizenship, reforms of public baths, constructions of theaters and aqueducts, questions connections the slavery and militarism, up to characterization of the system of mutual aid - the political patronage – and the force of the job of the virtuous expressions. Interesting media, the letters, also can be analyzed by interest of the literary style and of the function of elaborate an image. Pliny, a governor of province, upon changing letters with the Emperor Trajan, put itself beside the most powerful man of his time. Trajan, in another hand, was presented by the writing of Pliny, as a great sovereign, the legitimate one optimus princeps. This elaboration of the image of the emperor earned notoriety through the Panegyric to Trajan, written in the year 100 AD, by Pliny. However, when we directed our attention to the analysis of the collection of letters – Book X – crossed between the two, we saw the possibility of build an image connection to the deeds, and the routine situations. Fact is that two situations stayed clear in this analysis of the Book X: the belief of a member of staff in the actions of his leader and, consequently, the construction of an image model through worthy expressions of an ideal sovereign. With that, we give primacy by force that the words assume when employed in the situation and in the correct time. Pliny knew to use these tools, leaving its considerations about the virtuosity of Trajan. It is with this testimony of virtuosity, left in the letters, which elaborate this issertation
