Abstract: The process of refining oil employs catalysts in fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCC) whose goal is to improve efficiency through the catalysis of molecules. When the surface of these catalysts is inactivated, these catalysts should be treated and / or intended adequately since they are considered contaminated waste. One of the metals present in abundance in this waste is vanadium, metal, comes from oil processed. Therefore the objective of this study was to evaluate the potential removal of the vanadium from used of the equilibrium catalysts through the reactor bed particulate using the process of electrokinetic remediation. Through an applied electric gradient in the half polluted, the íons move in direction to the eletrodo of opposite charge for migration and the fluid intersticial it is moved until the eletrodo by eletrosmose. For this was designed a experimental unit where the catalyst was referred to treatment in different conditions and duration. Have been applied electric field and washing the catalyst with electrolyte (H2SO4 1mol/l) separately and together. Furthermore was tested using the electrode Titânio/SnO2 as anode. After treatment the morphology of the catalyst was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) indicated that aren't visible changes in the structure of the catalysts. The results of treatments indicated that the best form of treatment found in this study was that where the catalyst was previously immersed in electrolyte (24 hours) after the application of field and pumping (48 hours) with total duration of 72 hours. In other words, the mechanisms of eletroosmose convection and encourage treatment by migration. The spread, gradient of concentration, working against the system. So the convection may be offsetting the negative effect of broadcasting. The apex of removal occurred in 48 hours of experiment being of 464.5 mg / l. The process of removal of metal from waste contributes to the reduction of pollutant load in the catalyst, besides increasing the life cycle of the catalyst being directed to other processes less noble.
